I have a Panasoic Digital Cam (PV-DV101D) and I can't transfer the video to my PC - any help would be great! - radio shack usb to serial adapter

This is actually my mother in law house and tries to help. It has a Radio Shack USB Serial Driver disk I installed. When I go to Windows Movie Maker does not recognize the video to see if I try to import. The device will be a separate device in "My Computer" does not. I'm running Windows XP.
